JAMEA RICHMOND EDWARDS' FLY GIRL WITH ORBS
An ode to the aesthetic of her youth spent in the city of Detroit, Fly Girl with Four Orbs depicts a female figure surrounded by four vibrant, spiritually imbued spheres. From her Seven Mile Girl series, this work explores the artist’s connection to fashion as a vehicle for self-expression. Regardless of socioeconomic status fashion, and the desire for luxury brands, is an invisible thread that binds us.

HYEGYEONG G CHOI'S OPHELIA, QUIETER AND COLDER
Ophelia, Quieter and Colder engages the classic character and John Everett Millais’s famous composition, shifting the perspective to a direct view rather than observing from the side of the riverbank. In this new angle, the heroine is increasingly confrontational yet deific. Depth is abstracted with swells of green and blue fauna creeping from the edges of the work. Ophelia maintains her power, refuting weakness and creating beauty in the wake of trauma and loss.
