Radamés ‘Juni’ Figueroa

Radamés “Juni” Figueroa (b. 1982, Bayamón, Puerto Rico) obtained his BFA in Painting from the Escuela de Artes Plásticas (2007) and participated in La Práctica program at Beta Local (2013), both in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He has been included in notable solo and group institutional exhibitions internationally such the University Museum of Albany, NY (2020), SculptureCenter, NY (2014), and The Whitney Biennial, NY (2014) and most recently won Artissima’s illy Present Future Prize with Proyectos Ultravioleta which grants him a solo exhibition at the Castello di Rivoli in Turin in 2021. Figueroa has had numerous solo gallery exhibitions such as: Suavitel Entertainment Club at Embajada, San Juan (2019), ClubStreet Fighter at Espacio KB, Bogotá (2019), Meditations on an Ugly Hotel Room at L21 Gallery, Palma de Mallorca (2018), Sabroso Veneno at Anonymous Gallery, Mexico City (2017), Rompiendo en Frio at LTD Gallery Los Angeles (2015); Current Times Savage Times at Taymour Grahne Gallery New York (2015); Oficina Final Feliz (in collaboration with Stefan Benchoam from Proyectos Ultravioleta), Casa Encendida, Madrid, Spain; El Nido Salvaje, NuMu, Guatemala City, Guatemala (2013); among many others. In 2011 Figueroa co-curated Trópico Abierto, 1ra Gran Bienal Tropical in Loíza, Puerto Rico, together with Pablo León de la Barra (2011). Figueroa lives and works in San Juan. He is represented by Proyectos Ultravioleta in Guatelmala City and Embajada in San Juan.
