A closer look at the artist's original work in support of When We All Vote

In Caris Reid’s original painting Vote, the titular word is inscribed before a glimmering background. A cosmic undertone pulses through the image, laden with an ambiguity that gives way to limitless interpretation. While wavy leaves creep in from the top and bottom of the composition, a large pink flower’s pointed edges emulate the stars that dot the dark night sky.

Of ART FOR CHANGE’s initiative of supporting When We All Vote, Reid notes, “This is an incredibly important election year, and I'm happy to support When We All Vote in their effort to get as many people to vote as possible.”

Caris Reid is a painter whose works depict an ethereal, symbolic world of blooming flowers, rhythmic plants, and hypnotic stars. Influenced by her interest in mysticism, the California landscape, queer ecology, and meditation, her practice taps into both the familiar and the mysterious. Each subject represents the nexus between the physical world and the spiritual world, while every detail is coded and ripe with meaning.
