We are thrilled to announce the debut of our six week long artist-in-residence program in Santa Monica, CA with artist Madeleine Bialke. With the launch of the residency, we deepen our commitment to supporting both artists and socially conscious collectors. By offering a dedicated collector base access to works by incredible emerging talents, we continue to foster meaningful connections between artists and patrons who share a passion for art that drives positive change.

As our inaugural resident, Madeleine Bialke will create works inspired by visits to California’s dwindling Sequoia forests and her experiences along the California coast. Known for her use of color to evoke an over-saturated, unnatural environment, her work reflects the current climate crisis. During the residency, Madeleine Bialke will create a body of work consisting of five paintings, a series of drawings, and a new hand-embellished limited edition print that will be available for purchase to ART FOR CHANGE collectors.

To learn more about early access to Bialke's new limited edition print, previewing original works and the event celebrating the residency, sign up at the link below.

As part of ART FOR CHANGE’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and charitable giving, we will plant 10 trees for each artwork sold. The pledge not only supports ecological renewal but also draws inspiration from Bialke’s naturalist works, which celebrate the vibrancy and untouched beauty of landscapes, underscoring a shared dedication to preserving our planet’s terrains.

Split End, 2025

20 x 22.75 inches

Archival pigment print

Limited edition of 15 with 5 AP + 1 PP

Hand-embellished, signed, and numbered by the artist

A complex image in which sinewy branches and leaves cast overlapping shadows onto a dreamlike forest landscape, Split End centers on a split tree trunk lit by the warm, pink light of a setting sun. Bialke draws viewers’ attention towards both the layers of underbrush that define the composition’s foreground, and the trees that stand further off into the distance. The artist notes, “The title Split End evokes two visual paths—two different endings—that a viewer can take. The anthropomorphic trees and foliage relate to bodies and other organic matter, in an attempt to forge connections between all living things.” For this limited edition, Bialke will number the prints and alter the sky in accordance to their sequential order, to chronicle the passage of time from late afternoon to night.

The limited edition print will be released Tuesday, February 11th at 10 am EST to newsletter subscribers and 1pm EST to the public.

Stay tuned for more information regarding the original works!

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Headshot-1

Madeleine Bialke is an artist known for depicting ethereal landscapes that glow with luminescent color. Her paintings and drawings often feature otherworldly trees and plants, distinguished by organic curvatures that evoke the human body. Rendered in vibrant yet hazy hues, these works cast nature as a mysterious entity imbued with latent emotions. Born in New York and based in London, Bialke has presented solo exhibitions at The Nemeth Art Center, Park Rapids, MN; Huxley-Parlour Gallery, London, United Kingdom; Newchild Gallery, Antwerp, Belgium, and Seoul, Korea; Steve Turner Gallery, Los Angeles, CA; and Deanna Evans Projects, New York, NY; among others. The artist’s works are additionally in the collections of the X Museum, Shanghai, China; Zuzeum Art Centre, Riva, Latvia; and the Beth Rudin DeWoody Collection, West Palm Beach, Florida.
