Love to NYC

ART FOR CHANGE's virtual spring benefit Love to NYC brings together New York’s rich and resilient arts community by giving New York artists the opportunity to directly support the city’s arts organizations and one another. AFC has commissioned and produced a limited run of print editions with each of the participating artists: Paul Booth, Anya Kielar, Alicia Mersy, Cassi Namoda, Jordan Nassar, Na’ye Perez, Sara Greenberger Rafferty, Scott Reeder, Victoria Roth, Curtis Santiago, Willie Stewart, Marisa Takal, and Richard Tinkler, benefiting five beloved New York arts organizations––The Kitchen, Performance Space New York, Printed Matter, Abrons Arts Center, and New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA). AFC is founded on the belief that direct investment in the arts community is vital to a thriving cultural ecosystem. In keeping with all AFC initiatives, of the total net proceeds of prints sold during the benefit exhibition, 50% will directly benefit the participating artists, and 20% will benefit the five organizations.
The five spaces chosen have been fundamental to the development of the cultural fabric of New York City. One of New York’s oldest non-profit arts spaces, The Kitchen has presented groundbreaking and cross-disciplinary explorations since its inception in 1971. For 45 years, Printed Matter has championed artist’s books as complex and meaningful artworks and remarkable reflections of artistic practice. Founded in 1980, Performance Space New York is a countering force to the often-exclusionary nature of urban development and fervently fosters community through performance and discourse. Abrons Arts Center, a cornerstone of the Lower East Side, mobilizes communities with the transformative power of art with the core belief that access to the arts is essential to a free and healthy society. NADA has been a showcase for emerging talent and trailblazers for over 15 years, “The name FAIR [presented by NADA] was picked for its dual meaning... an art fair that is also fair to all participants...the larger point of the event was “we are all in this together.”–Heather Hubbs, executive director.
