Joshua Nazario’s residency works support Feeding America
For this year’s artist-in-residence program, ART FOR CHANGE is proud to support Feeding America, the largest domestic hunger-relief organization in the United States. Through its nationwide network of 200 food banks — including locations in Puerto Rico, California, and New York — Feeding America provides critical support to communities facing hunger.
For every artwork sold, a portion of proceeds will go directly towards Feeding America, helping provide ten meals per dollar donated.
As part of his new series, Nazario created powerful works in dialogue with the organization and its mission. Explore a selection of Nazario’s original works below.
“Food insecurity is one of the most urgent issues across the country, affecting millions of children, families, and seniors,” shares Jeanne Masel, Founder & Curator-In-Chief, ART FOR CHANGE. “It’s even more pressing in the context of the soaring costs of living with little relief in sight. Through our ongoing support of Feeding America, we hope to bring immediate relief to communities facing hunger, while connecting our collectors with a tangible impact that extends beyond the art world.”
Of our initiative to support Feeding America, Nazario notes, “Supporting Feeding America is important to me because everyone deserves access to food, and I’m grateful that a portion of every artwork sold will go towards supporting those in need.”
Joshua Nazario Lugo is a self-taught artist born and based in Puerto Rico. His practice celebrates the Caribbean island’s identity, through paintings that highlight its people and culture while tapping into personal memories. Using simple materials like concrete and wood, the artist transforms depictions of various symbols and objects—for instance, workers, athletes, and cars—into reflections on resilience, pride, and the value found in daily life.
