All of Tessa Perutz’s paintings commence en plein air. With a keen eye for color and place, she transcribes nature and humans within nature, through sensitive motifs captured across an ever-expanding selection of mediums. Exploring mortality, regeneration, spirituality, death and rebirth, Perutz translates the cycles of human experience and our inter-connectivity through hypnotic simplicity and control.
Each work in the Duo from Saint-Paul-de-Vence began in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, in the Cote d’Azur in southern France. Perutz renders the warmth and summerlight of the eucalyptus forest in pastel pinks and oranges, soft curves and a vast foreground. Movement through the foreground is compounded by the winding hues, swallowing the line of trees and soft shape rising above.

In honor of World Mental Health Day on October 10th, ART FOR CHANGE is dedicating the month of October to Mental Health Awareness with a curated series of artworks benefiting mental health organizations. Each of the works in this month’s collection engage with personal histories and perceptions through the lens of social expectations and transition. We see light, darkness, destruction and growth intertwined through introspective compositions—emphasizing journeys whether philosophical, physical or aesthetic. World Mental Health Day presents us with an opportunity to reflect on such transitions, finding comfort and surrender in honesty and support systems we may not have considered before.
Of these works benefitting Project Healthy Minds, she notes, “I appreciate the inclusive nature of Project Healthy Minds, which grants those who have been previously unable to afford therapy access to guidance in many forms. I feel fortunate to be linked with such a positive and needed organization, one with wonderful intentions and long-term vision.”
