Allison Zuckerman is a Brooklyn-based painter and mixed media artist who describes her work as a remixing of art history and contemporary culture with an emphasis on female empowerment. Her pop-surrealist work fuses painting with digital printing techniques to create hybridized portraits that contain cultural and societal critiques by appropriating various art historical tropes and references to "recast the submissive, romanticized female muses painted by male artists throughout Western art history as commanding, empowered figures."

The Tempest was created as part of a project where Zuckerman interpreted Louis Vuitton's Resort 2020 collection for the November issue of Vogue Italia. Designed by Nicolas Ghesquière and inspired by cosmopolitanism at the intersection of styles and cultures, the cape and belt in the painting are both Louis Vuitton designs, and the hat is an homage to Picasso.

Zuckerman has had solo exhibitions at numerous museums including the Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art, Herzliya, Israel, University Gallery, Gainesville, FL, Akron Art Museum, and the Rubell Family Collection, among others.
