Created in celebration of Immigrant Heritage month, Lucia Hierro’s print entitled Frío,Frío is from her Bodegones or “still life” series that explores the relationship between personal narrative and larger economic structures. The title of the piece, Frío,Frío was inspired by a Juan Luis Guerra's song. As described by Hierro, "it’s what some Dominicans call that shaved ice treat..sold throughout the warm months of the year here in NY. An homage to the Dominican New Yorkers who hung out outside playing Dominoes while eating treats from local bakeries and sipping on their frio frios.”

Lucia Hierro’s work has been shown in many institutions and galleries including the Bronx Museum of Art, the Museum of the African Diaspora, San Francisco; Jeffrey Deitch, Los Angeles, and Elizabeth Dee Gallery in New York. Her work was added to the permanent collection of the Perez Art Museum in 2020.  Next year Lucia Hierro will have a solo museum exhibition at The Aldrich, a contemporary art museum located in Ridgefield, CT.
