Giorgio Celin’s expansive figurative paintings explore themes of migration, nostalgia and intimacy—casting a critical eye on displacement and belonging. Born in Colombia in 1986 and based between Naples and Barcelona, the artist considers his work to be a personal diary, aiming to celebrate the beauty, queerness and complexity of the Latinx Diaspora. The artist has exhibited works at institutions and galleries around the world, including MACRO, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Rome.

Rendered in a moody, cool palette of lush aquas and greens, back to the road, back to the blues captures feelings of solitude and longing in his expressive, curving style. The central figure, who gazes down and out of the canvas toward a glass where a flower’s stem arcs across the width of the compositional frame, behind the figure, highlighted in a soft red and white. A palpable warmth lights the forlorn figure with pink highlights contouring the deep blues of the figure—imbuing the figure’s features with a pinkish glow. The artist has hand-embellished a selection of works within the edition with acrylic details, making each print a unique work.
